Mohammad A. Safadi was born in Tripoli, Lebanon on March 28, 1944. Safadi is a graduate of the American University of Beirut, where he studied business administration. Safadi is a successful businessman, philanthropist, and politician. He began his career in the private sector and is currently Chairman of the Board of Safadi Group Holding SAL that concentrates investments in the fields of real estate and property development, business aviation and airports.

Safadi was elected to the Parliament in 2000. Since that time Safadi has served his nation in various capacities: Between 2005-2008, he served as Minister of Public Works and Transport. In addition, between 2007-2008, he served as Acting Minister of Water and Energy and currently is serving as Minister of Economy and Trade.
Safadi supports the development of Lebanese civil society and the reform of state institutions through his title as Honorary President of both Safadi Foundation Tripoli and Safadi Foundation USA.

Safadi is a member of many Commissions, Committees and Boards. In particular, he is a member of the John F. Kennedy School of Government Dean’s Council at Harvard University and serves on the Board of several American Educational institutions in Lebanon.
