Remarks: The Honourable Eleanor McMahon Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport Regarding The International Economic Forum of The Americas – The Toronto Global Forum

« …And today, I’m very pleased to announce one more exciting initiative taking place in our anniversary year. From October 30 to November 1, Toronto will host one of North America’s leading economic forums.

The Toronto Global Forum will be held under the auspices of the International Economic Forum of the Americas in conjunction with Ontario’s Ministry of International Trade.

The Forum will feature a range of enhanced economic development and promotion opportunities for the province and for Ontario business leaders.

Heads of state, central bank governors, ministers and prominent global economic decision makers will all be here.

This year’s Forum will include a global expat program in which prominent global business leaders with Ontario or Canadian roots share their expertise and experience from around the world to strengthen the export capabilities of Ontario SMEs.

That means exclusive opportunities for you, our Canadian business leaders, to network and promote international partnerships. In this milestone year for Canada and Ontario, I’m proud our government is able to support this high-profile event, and I invite you to participate.

Ontarians have the opportunity to come together – to recognize the values that have shaped our success and celebrate the incredible province we live in.

We have so much to be proud of, and so many reasons to celebrate.

Ontario was a leading partner in the Confederation of Canada.

Ontarians have always been leaders in shaping our great country; with our deeply held and shared belief in equality of opportunity and compassion; with our innovators, our businesses, our educational institutions and creators;

We push the boundaries of what others think is possible. But more than that, Ontarians are inclusive, open to new perspectives and always seeking ways to grow, evolve and leave a better world for our children.

We’re recognizing this and capturing the potential of what makes Ontario great through our comprehensive, year-long Ontario150 program.

Nous reconnaissons tout cela et nous voulons exploiter les atouts qui rendent l’Ontario meilleur par notre programme Ontario150, complet et déployé toute l’année.

Our 150th anniversary gives us the opportunity to come together to consider our collective vision as a province, and to invest in the people and infrastructure that will shape a legacy for the next 150 years in Ontario…”

Remarks by Ontario Minister Eleanor McMahon, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport to the Economic Club, on January 25th, 2017.
