President and CEO,
International Economic Forum of the Americas
It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to the 12th edition of the Toronto Global Forum.
We continue to live in an era of unprecedented change. The intersection of technological innovation, economic uncertainty, and political division is creating a shift in global power dynamics and people’s perception of the world. As 2019 approaches, we are still wondering how businesses and governments will move towards a new consensus to address these challenges. The theme and content for this year’s Forum – Navigating a World in Disruption – will allow us to tackle some of today’s most pressing questions in a thought-provoking manner. We hope our discussions over the next three days will provide a map for business and policy leaders both at home and abroad to navigate through these unpredictable times.
Once again, we have the honour of welcoming an exceptional lineup of thought leaders from the worlds of business, government, academia and media. I want to thank our speakers who have joined us from around the world to share their ideas and insights.
I also wish to thank our sponsors and partners, particularly our Presenting Partner – Cogeco Peer 1 – and our Strategic Partners – DBRS, Aecon and Invest in Canada – for their support. I also want to recognize the City of Toronto for hosting this extraordinary event and for their ongoing support. Moreover, it’s a pleasure to gather once again in the Province of Ontario, a terrific place for doing business.
Finally, we look forward to welcoming you at our upcoming events in 2019: the 9th edition of the World Strategic Forum in Miami on April 1 and 2; our special 25th anniversary edition of the Conference of Montreal, from June 10 to 13; the 13th edition of the Toronto Global Forum from September 4 to 6; and, the Conference of Paris taking place November 13 and 14.
On behalf of our team at the International Economic Forum of the Americas, we wish you an enlightening, exciting and memorable conference.
